San Diego Comic ConWe're headed to the San Diego Comic-Con.  We will not have a booth or table this year and will not be selling sketchbooks at the show.  We decided not to do a 2010 sketchbook for SDCC, but do plan to put one out later this year.

THURSDAY
1:00-3:00 Comic-Con How-To Session: Steve Rude-Award-winning comics illustrator and Comic-Con special guest Steve Rudewill paint a realistic portrait of a beautiful blonde heroine from his imagination. Learn valuable illustration techniques and how to draw the human figure. Recommended for all ages and experience levels. Room 18

3:00-5:00 Steve will be signing.  We do not yet know if it will be in the Sails Pavillion or in Artists Alley

FRIDAY
2:30-3:30 Spotlight on Steve Rude-Award-winning artist and Comic-Con special guest Steve Rude describes the high points of his career, including how he broke into comics; the various comics he's worked on, including Nexus, World's Finest, and Space Ghost; and the trials of working on them. Plus Steve gives his thoughts on today's current comics and artists. Room 9

If you're at Comic-Con you won't want to miss the premiere of the Rude Dude Documentary Trailer to be shown at the end of the panel.

We have no other conventions planned for 2010 at this time.
NEW COMMISSION CONCEPT ... YOU CHOOSE THE FINISH!

Steve had some downtime during his recent trip back home to Escanaba (which he'll write about next issue) and finding some Bristol in his portfolio, decided to do some pencil sketches.  Instead of doing them all in black and white marker we decided to try something a little different - why not let the customer decide how they would like it finished! 

You can choose from marker, colored marker, pen and ink, or watercolor.  Here is an example of one that was finished.  The buyer chose colored marker:
