On this episode of Word balloon, host John Siuntres sits down with The Dude, Artist Steve Rude, who discusses his return to the worlds of Nexus and The Moth, in his self published line of books, Rude Dude Comics. 

As The Dude himself says. "I think back at that 10 period of nothing when all the (Nexus fans) kept writing us... there were so many more stories to tell. Internally I kept saying ot myself, "this is not right, I have to use all skills I've accumulated my experience and clout to comeback to these characters , and bloody well keep going with them...The people who buy (Nexus) have expectations that every time they purchase something and know what (Baron and Rude) are capable of, they had better not let you down, and that's what's in my mind when I'm drawing Nexus.You're not going to feel horrible when you read my books, you will feel excited and elated and you'll want to see more."

The current plan is to finish the Nexus return arc, Space Opera, then release the new Moth arc. "You oughta see what (writer) Gary Martin has planned. It's nuts!" In the interview, Rude discusses how he and writer Mike Baron got together to create Nexus for Capital City Comics, the early influences of Jack Kirby, and Alex Toth on his work, and his view of the 1980's direct market compared to today's comic book landscape. 

In addition to new stories revolving around his co created new characters Oragami and The Silencer , Rude also wants to bring back romance stories and his own spin on horror, in his upcoming anthology book, Amazing Dude Tales .

• CONVERT MiniDV tapes to DVD for fans to download.  These are mostly painting demos and will have sections that need to be edited out and most will have unusable audio.
• PODCASTS - Steve has taped some podcasts, but would like some help making them sound professional.  Since Steve is technically challenged he recorded them directly onto old fashioned cassette tapes.
• MESSAGEBOARD - Our current messageboard has been overtaken by spammers so we've all but abandonded it.  Even with the safeguards of entering the code, etc, we're still getting around 50 bogus new user requests per day and Lise and I together were spending half the day getting rid of spam.  We'd like to set up another messageboard that can actually be functional and weed out more spammers or be able to bulk delete bogus accounts.
• LIVE CHAT - As most of you know, Steve is computer illiterate, but with some help from Jaynelle, he would love to do a live chat once a month or so.  We're looking for someone to help us set that up.
• NEXUS ORIGIN - FlexiDisc to Video.  I have MP3s for the Nexus FlexiDisc which is basically a dramatic reading of the Origin.  We had one fan start it and he did a fantstic job, but it proved to be too time consuming.  We had another professor interested in having his class use it as a semester project, but nothing has been decided there.  If you're interested in turning the 20 minute MP3 into a video let us know!
• REDESIGN PRESS PAGE- I need someone to both keep up with posting new interviews and organize the page so it's not so boring.
