Cedar Village E-News

Greetings!

Our Interfaith Mission to Israel is just four short months away! This week we began our physical training in earnest. Staff and residents who are going on the Mission, along with anyone else who wants to join in, are lacing up their sneakers and walking at least twice a week. On hot days we have inside the building routes and cooler weather finds us making the long loop around the building. Stairs are also part of the routine. We'll be doing an enormous amount of walking for the entire 10 days and we want to be sure that everyone is as prepared as possible!

Of course, walking is not our only preparation. We'll have our third educational session next week, meeting to learn more about our different faith traditions and backgrounds. We're also getting well acquainted with one another and that has been great fun!

Our team is hard at work on raising the funds necessary to make this Mission a reality. It is the first ever Interfaith Mission of older adults and we are very excited to make it happen. Our participants will have much to share, and teach us all, on their return. They truly are setting an example for all of us on tolerance, open mindedness and the capacity to learn and grow at any age.

Speaking of "firsts," the World Choir Games will be in Cincinnati for the first time. Did you know that the only Friendship concert in Mason will be at Cedar Village? Come join us on Sunday July 8 at 2 pm for three choirs, two from the US and a choir from China. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an outdoor afternoon of wonderful music!

 All the best,

In our busy lives, there seems to be no shortage of things to worry about. When you think about it though, most of our worries have to do with what has already happened or what hasn't even happened yet.

Here is a useful article about staying "in the moment" and focusing on the present. The sympathetic and autonomic nervous systems are discussed as well as a method of deep breathing to help with relaxation. If you have tension in your muscles from injury or posture problems, our team of exceptional therapists are here to help you!
