Cedar Village E-News

Greetings!

Our Cincinnati community is privileged every year to have a wonderful Jewish and Israeli film festival.  It is almost two weeks long and brings together both a wide variety of films and a wide variety of community members to see and appreciate them.  This year, Cedar Village was delighted to be one of the film festival sponsors and we had the opportunity to introduce a film on Monday evening. The original production of The Debt, which was remade as an English film recently, was shown on Monday evening and we had a group of residents join community members to see this powerful film.  For the first time this year, I had the chance to attend most of the film festival and it really was a great event. The films were all different, all absorbing and each provoked both thought and conversation.  Kudos to the committee of community members who organizes this each year and thanks for asking Cedar Village to take part!

We had more entertainment than the film festival this week at Cedar Village!  On Wednesday, we hosted the Cincinnati Opera presentation of Porgy and Bess Redux.  It was a wonderful performance and we had a full house of participants!  It did displace our wellness events for this week but we are back on with wellness next Wednesday.  This coming week will feature a seated yoga class followed by a lecture on injury prevention by local orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Anthony Checroun.  That's at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Religious and Cultural Center.  Join us if you can!

If you or someone you know is considering a new home that enhances a retirement lifestyle, Cedar Village does have a few openings in our Oak View apartments, which does not happen very often!  These spacious units have been newly updated and offer all the best in independent living including dining, weekly housekeeping, transportation and top notch programming and events.  There is also the security of knowing that there are staff, including nurses, in the building 24 hours every day and that additional care is available to anyone who needs it, enabling folks to live as independently as  possible for as long as possible.  Call today for tour and watch for some upcoming special events!

Purim planning is underway and we'll be holding our traditional events- Megillah reading, Purim shpiel and hamantaschen baking!  Watch for details, we would love to have you join us!

All the best,
