Cedar Village E-News
January 20, 2012

Greetings!

The first phase of our rehabilitation renovation and expansion is nearing completion and we are so excited about it!  As you know, the new therapy center opened in July and it is truly the centerpiece of Cedar Village's first floor.  The most state-of-the-art therapy gym and equipment in our area are being well used by both inpatients and outpatients.  If you haven't seen it, please come and visit-we love to show it off!  The two units that have been renovated for inpatient therapy, Apple and Azalea, are already in use for short term rehab stays. The resident rooms are bright with new lighting, new floors, new furniture and totally remodeled bathrooms with private showers.  New nursing stations, renovated dining rooms and brand new resident lounges make these units complete.  Last to finish is the new ambulance entrance and elevator which will be operational soon. That will make admission to Cedar Village a much nicer experience for patients and will facilitate the use of the new rehab center, making it easy for patients to come directly down from the inpatient rehab units.

Phase II of the renovation is about to begin-that will be the addition of aquatic therapy to the therapy services at Cedar Village.  Warm water therapy can have an enormous positive benefit for individuals to recover from injury or recuperate after surgery or other illness.  Plans include two individual therapy pools and a larger pool that can be used for both therapy and "water wellness" activities.  We are delighted to be moving forward with this project and know that it will make a difference for older adults in our community, both today and in the future.

To do all of this renovation and expansion does, of course, require resources.  Our Growth for Tomorrow campaign, with a goal of $6 million, has been quietly underway for a number of months.  Thanks to the generous support of the Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati, we are getting closer to reaching that goal. But we still have a ways to go-with the need to raise just over $700,000 in additional funds.  We had Jerry and Sue Teller help us with the first phase of the campaign and they did a spectacular job.  Now our team of solicitors has picked up the ball and are running with it!  We're also conducting a campaign internally and are proud to report 100% participation on the part of our management staff.

We hope that you will help us with this vital effort.  If you have been contacted, please consider a generous gift or pledge to the Growth for Tomorrow campaign.  If you haven't been contacted, but would like to help, let us know.  We'd be happy to show you what we have done on the project to date and to share the plans for our future expansion. Together, we know that we will achieve this goal and make a positive difference for Cedar Village and the health of our community.

All the best,
