Greetings!
A holiday week and an early e-news! We will celebrate together on Thursday and Friday in both the Temple and the Synagogue. Love to have you join us. We came together as a Cedar Village community on Tuesday to honor the release of Gilad Shalit. Some months ago we shared a documentary of his family and their experiences during his incarceration. So powerful to share this together and offer prayers of thanksgiving for his safety. Some of us have been at the national Leading Age conference this week in Washington D.C. Leading Age is the national organization that represents nonprofit senior services providers nationally. More than 7000 people gather for this conference and we heard some amazing keynote presentations, including Maya Angelou and Elie Wiesel. We also had the opportunity to present! Sally Korkin and I did a 90 minute workshop on taking residents to Israel. We had lots of interest, great fun sharing our stories and advice and quite a few requests for follow up. It was a great experience. While we were in D.C., the Association of Jewish Aging Services (AJAS), the organization that represents Jewish aging services providers from the united States and Canada, also held a special reception. We gathered under a sukkah, kindly allowed by a local Synagogue, and had a chance to be together and celebrate Sukkoth. It was a real highlight!
Chag sameach and all the best,
