Greetings!
The new year is upon us and our preparations at Cedar Village are in full swing. We are engaged in many activities with the residents, from educational programs to reminiscence sessions, using the familiar taste of apples and honey to trigger recollections. We've planned special menus and educated all of our staff--doing everything possible to make the holidays a special time. Of course, we have a full schedule of services both in the Temple and the Synagogue. We even have an intergenerational service on both the first morning of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur to encourage participation from as many generations as possible! It is not unusual for us to assemble five generations for those services (9 a.m. In the Temple) and it is wonderful! You are cordially invited to join us for any or all services as we celebrate the holidays as a Cedar Village family.
As we approach the new year, we reflect on the year just ending. This has been a year filled with change and growth for Cedar Village. Our new Rehabilitation Center has been completed and we are well on our way to finishing this vital project. Cedar Village Hospice officially opened in May, broadening our continuum of services in a significant way. The year ahead will be marked by more growth and also significant challenges as we face cuts in reimbursement that may change the shape of aging services forever.
Through it all, one thing remains clear and ever present. Our mission at Cedar Village is that "aging be an enriching and fulfilling experience," that is the foundation on which our programs and services are built. It is the commitment that will carry us into the future. We fully understand that sacred trust, to care for those who need us, and, while that may "look different" in the future, that commitment will remain unshakable and unchanged.
We wish you and your family the happiest and healthiest of new years.
All the best, Carol Silver Elliott CEO/President carol@cedarvillage.org |
