Greetings!
It seems impossible that it is the Labor Day weekend already and summer is quickly becoming a memory. We've been glad that the weather has stayed warm as lots of residents are enjoying time on the patio or in the Sensory Garden. I see many people walking the grounds and it's great that the weather has been conducive.
This was a book club week for me with our residents. As you may know, we have a monthly book club and it is great fun. This month's selection was "Minding Frankie" by Maeve Binchy and we had a lot of great conversation about families of different "shapes and configurations," about overcoming challenges and about community. It was a great summer read and was a hit with the participants. We also had a special outing on Thursday that included many of our book club folks and was prompted by our having read Stacy Schiff's Cleopatra. We visited the Cincinnati Museum Center to tour the Cleopatra exhibit and it was wonderful. It's a touring exhibit that will visit a limited number of cities and we are fortunate to have it here. It is quite a spectacular exhibit, very educational, interesting and beautifully presented. We followed that with boxed lunches we'd brought along and it made for a wonderful day for everyone.
Now that the Golf Classic is behind us, we are starting to gear up for Battle of the Bands! Please save the date, December 4, 2011 and join us at the Twentieth Century Theatre in Oakley where we will have a great evening of music and fun. We have three bands, we'll have dancing and refreshments and just a great evening out. And we'll be there to support Cedar Village-it doesn't get much better than that, does it?
We're also getting ready for the upcoming holidays. If you have a family member at Cedar Village, we'd love to have you join them for services. We have both Orthodox and Reform services throughout the holidays. They are always well attended and a wonderful way for us to come together and worship as a Cedar Village family.
All the best,
