Dear ,
There's been so much going on this week that it seems much longer than just a single week! We began with one of our favorite holidays-July 4th, which around here is known as Harkavy Holiday Weekend! On Sunday, we began with a concert featuring some of our favorite performers, Steve and Irina accompanied by our wonderful music therapist, Jude Jones. On Monday, we had a day filled with terrific events. We began the day with our annual Car Show. We had some vintage cars, some impressive sports cars and a number of Miatas brought over by members of the local Miata club. All in all we had 16 cars, which is a new record. Residents, families and staff all enjoyed looking at the very different vehicles and chatting with the owners. One of our staff has a 1936 Chevrolet, a gorgeous car complete with rumble seat, which had belonged to her dad. She and her husband were kind enough to bring it out for the show. One of our residents was looking at it and she said to me, "I remember that my father's first car was just like this one. I was very put out that I had to ride in the rumble seat!"
Monday afternoon was highlighted by the return of the Buffalo Ridge Jazz Band. They are a lively group and play great music. We served Graeter's ice cream (yum!) and enjoyed an hour of lively music. Some of our residents were up and dancing and we even had some family members and staff get up and show us some dance moves. We're not quite ready to hold "Dancing with the Stars, Cedar Village edition" but we did have fun.
Our other big events this week have all centered around the opening of our new Rehabilitation Center, which will be open for business as of Monday, July 11. The new inpatient and outpatient therapy space is beautiful, spacious and up-to-date with all of the latest equipment and treatment modalities. We had a reception for our residents on Wednesday afternoon, tours for staff most of the day Thursday and will have the dedication on Sunday morning. It has been a long time in the making and we are so thrilled with this new center. It offers huge benefits to our patients, to the community and to Cedar Village. If you are in need of any therapy services, inpatient or outpatient, our highly skilled staff of physical, occupational and speech therapists can help. Call 754-3100 for more information and a referral.
We're also continuing to grow another key program, Cedar Village Hospice. We've just completed our second full month of operation and feel very good about the care and services we are providing. We have a full range of hospice services, provided by our team of dedicated professionals and we bring the same Cedar Village quality to hospice care that we bring to all that we do. If you know someone who needs hospice care, or you need more information on what hospice care entails, please call us at 754-3100. We serve both Cedar Village residents and the entire Cincinnati community.
All the best,
Carol Silver Elliott
CEO/President, Cedar Village
