Dear ,
I hope that you were with us for the screening of "Family in Captivity" this week, which is the story of Gilad Shalit, who has been a captive of Hamas for five years as of this weekend. We had over 100 people in attendance and it was a moving and educational experience for everyone. If you didn't have a chance to see it, there is a community screening coming at the JCC on June 26th at 3 p.m. Call the J for details.
We've got construction continuing and some deadlines in sight. We can't wait to move forward with the opening of our new Rehabilitation Center. The grand opening will take place on July 10 and we'll be "open for business" on July 11. The renovation of the Apple and Azalea units is also ongoing but it will be several months before that reaches completion. The third element of the project, the new elevator for admissions and rehab, has finally begun construction. What a wonderful change that will be for our residents-with a proper ambulance entrance and a dedicated elevator. It may not be the most "glamorous" element of the project but it is hugely exciting for us. When Cedar Village was built our admissions were largely long term care and they came in, with their families, through the main entrance and used the lobby elevators. Today, many, if not most, of our admissions come via ambulance. That entrance was just not built for patient entry and transport so we look forward to improving that and making admission to Cedar Village a more welcoming, and comfortable, process.
We are looking forward to the 4th of July weekend which, around here, is the Harkavy holiday weekend! We'll have music on Sunday afternoon and then our antique car show on Monday afternoon. Hope you can join us! Don't forget, as well, that golf is coming-the Cedar Village Golf Classic will be held on August 22nd. You won't want to miss it!
All the best,
Carol Silver Elliott
