| | Our Chesed Corps enjoy making Shabbat baskets |

Dear ,
When we talk about Cedar Village, what we're really talking about is people--the residents whose home this is and the staff who are privileged to work with them. Did you know that we have nearly 300 residents that live on our campus and close to 325 people on our employee team. From those who provide direct care to others whose roles are supportive to the organization, everyone's goals are the same--to provide outstanding care; to treat our residents as if they were our own family members; and to live our mission, making aging an enriching and fulfilling experience. On Wednesday evening we had a wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate some of the individuals on our employee team. We presented awards for 25, 15, 10 and 5 years of service, with the total years served reaching a total 0f 255! How can someone have a 25 year award when Cedar Village is only just over 14 years old? Because Nicole Millhouse, who received this award, began her career at Glen Manor and then made the transition to Cedar Village. Our 15-year award went to Sally Korkin, who has 15 years at Cedar Village because she came on board before the building was even open! We had a festive dinner, music provided by our good friend Greg Lee and gave out a variety of awards based on years of service. It was a very special evening for everyone.
We've got a very important program on our agenda for next week and we hope that you can join us. On Thursday, June 23 at 10 a.m., the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Religious and Cultural Center will be the setting for "Family in Captivity," a documentary about the family of Gilad Shalit, the Israel soldier who was captured by, and remains in custody of, Hamas. The film tells the story from the first hand viewpoint of the family. It is powerful, moving and enlightening. We hope you'll join us for the film, some conversation and some breakfast as well.
Our Chesed Corps is on the move again! This week Shabbat basket preparation was expanded as we're now providing Shabbat baskets to two local hospitals--Jewish and Christ--with a plan to expand to as many as would like us! The Shabbat baskets include freshly baked challah, grape juice, candy and warm wishes from all of us at Cedar Village. We've gotten some lovely thank you notes from folks who have received them while at Jewish Hospital, and we are delighted to be growing this program.
Save the date for the Cedar Village Golf Classic on August 22nd! And mark your calendars for July 10 when we will be holding the grand opening of our new inpatient and outpatient Rehab Center!
All the best,
Carol Silver Elliott
CEO/President, Cedar Village
