Fashion Show One
April 8, 2011

Dear ,

We had such fun on Tuesday this week!  A fashion show and luncheon was held in the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Religious and Cultural Center and it featured a glamorous group of models, all of whom are residents in our apartments at Cedar Village. Each lovely lady had chosen their own outfit at Christopher & Banks, located in the nearby Deerfield Towne Center and each had an escort, all gentlemen on our staff.  The theme for the afternoon was "old fashioned garden party" and we had photos from fashion magazines of yesteryear, lace doilies on the tables and many of the women on our management staff were dressed in hats, white gloves and summery dresses.  A few mink stoles, inherited from mothers or grandmothers, were even in evidence!  It was a wonderful event and we were delighted to host a number of ladies from the community, for whom we also provided transportation.  Lunch was great, receiving rave reviews, and the dessert display, all created by our pastry chef Tracey, was spectacular!

Passover plans are in full swing here and next week will be our major preparation week.  It is a huge effort to turn over our kitchens and the pantries on every unit but the team pulls together and it all works well.  We will have several Seder opportunities here so I hope you will join us for one or more if your schedule permits!  On Monday April 18, our annual Community Seder will begin at 4 p.m. in the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Religious and Cultural Center.  We always have a capacity crowd so reservations are mandatory!  We will also have traditional Seders on both Monday and Tuesday evenings at 9 p.m.  On Tuesday April 19, we'll host our annual Cherry Seder at noon, which is always a great event.  Then on Wednesday, April 20, we'll be doing something that's really new for us-rather than the second and third floor Health Care Center Seders we've done in the past, we're combining all of Health Care for a special lunch time Seder in the Cohen Center.  We'll manage all the special diets and feeding requirements so that we can all come together as a family for this celebration.   It will be amazing, I am sure, and if you'd like to help with that, please contact Angie Tapogna, our Director of Marketing and Volunteers at atapogna@cedarvillage.org and she will find you a spot!  Then on Thursday April 21, we will have another special Seder, this one a chocolate Seder!  We've got a great service to use and have plans to serve four cups of chocolate milk, mixed chocolate charoset and more!  It will certainly be fun for all, especially the chocoholics in the crowd!

Renovation continues to move along well.  We'll be getting into the renovated dining rooms on Apple and Azalea before Passover, which was very important to us. They look great and we are so excited about using them.  There are signs of progress everywhere and we are so looking forward to opening the new therapy department, and the residents units.

Don't forget to make your reservations for 8 over 80 on May 19.  We will be honoring Dr. Larry Essig; Benjamin Gettler; Murray Guttman; Eric Hattenbach; Dr. Albert Miller; Barbara Rosenberg; Freda and Pearl Schwartz and Sue and Jerry Teller.  We'll be at Adath Israel Congregation at 5:30 for cocktails, 6:30 for dinner and program.

All the best,
