Here are some dates for your calendar - on Tuesday, March 15 we will be getting ready for Purim with our Health Care residents.  Would you like to help with hamantaschen?  Well, let us know and we'd be glad to have you join us.  Our residents love to cook and we love to cook with them.  I have fond memories of the last several years, watching folks measure and mix, roll dough, fill and shape.  We had one resident who made one hamantaschen as big as a cookie sheet!  She said that's the way her mother used to make them.  Not only is it fun (and delicious) but the conversation is great.  We talk about our favorite varieties, about Purim memories, about what holidays mean to us.  It is a very special time and we'd love to share it with you.

Also to note, Sunday afternoon, March 20 will be our Purim celebration (part I) with Megillah reading and (you guessed it!) some hamantaschen.  And on Monday, March 21, our management staff will take part in our annual Purim shpiel.  It will be a fun afternoon for all - and we love to hear the laughter.

We've had some other great activities this week as well.  We had a full house for President's Day. Cherry pie and Presidential trivia were the order of the day and both were a big success.  It was amazing to see how much our residents knew about the presidents and prizes were duly awarded!  And, in keeping with that theme, a tall man in a very tall stovepipe hat was here today for a program.  That's right, Abraham Lincoln made a visit to Cedar Village.  He also drew a big crowd and lots of participation.

Our rehab renovation continues to move along at a good pace.  We are anxious to have it complete but we see signs of progress daily.  We look forward to opening the new therapy space in early summer and the resident room renovations to be complete by early fall!
