It's so nice to see the sun and to look out the window and watch people walking outdoors. We have a great campus for walking and we all appreciate those days when it is possible to be out rather than in! Our twice-weekly Walking Club is still confining their strolls to indoors but one of these days, if the weather gives us a break, we'll be heading for the great outdoors as well. Folks are having fun with the Walk for Health signs that are now posted all over the building. It is pretty easy to log some miles walking our halls and residents, staff and visitors are having fun keeping track of their mileage.
Our week was highlighted by many great events. On Thursday, we had wonderful entertainment as Greg Lee and Nancy James presented a musical program which highlighted female singers throughout the years. It was a double header entertainment day because Thursday evening featured the wonderful Joe and Friends from CCM. For the music lovers, and we have many, it was a terrific day.
Wii bowling is heating up too. We now have both morning and afternoon practice sessions and our goal it to "take our show on the road." We can't wait to see folks in their official uniforms in real competition!
On Monday, we will celebrate President's Day with some special programming including presidential trivia and (yum!) cherry pie. If you're free at 2 p.m., put on your red, white and blue and come over and join us. We'll be in the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Religious and Cultural Center.
And if you come out for President's Day, be sure to take a look at our OMA art exhibit. If you have not experienced OMA (Opening Minds through Art), it is something you don't want to miss. OMA uses art as a tool to reach individuals with dementia, allowing them to make choices and engage in projects that will take your breath away. Be sure to check it out!
While you are here, feel free to ask any of us about the rehab construction underway. We are very excited about it! We'll be starting on the renovation of the Azalea and Apple dining rooms very soon. It will cause some shifting around at meal time for a couple of weeks but we have a plan and a great team to implement it, so disruption should be minimal. The results will be well worth it!
All the best,
Carol Silver Elliott
