| | Pickle tasting is so much fun! |
|
Dear ,
I had a great opportunity this week. I attended the national conference of AAHSA, the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. AAHSA, which will soon change its' name to LeadingAge, is an organization that represents nonprofit senior service providers from around the country. With just over 4000 of my colleagues, I had a wonderful experience to hear some incredible keynote speakers, including Paula Zahn who both spoke and conducted a panel discussion with professionals and consumers, as well as participate in some thought-provoking breakout sessions. There are always new things to learn from our peers and from the wide variety of vendors who participate and I brought back a number of ideas for us to explore.
We had some great programs this week as well. Our friends from CCM, incredibly talented students who perform over the course of the year, made their first appearance for this academic year. This year's group "Joe and Friends" did a spectacular performance for a big crowd and we look forward to more performances from them throughout the course of the year. We also took a group of residents to the Cincinnati Art Museum for the special wedding dress exhibit. They loved it and it was a very special outing.
Did you know that it was National Pickle Month ? I bet you didn't. We did! One of our staff did a whole program this week on the history of pickles and how pickles are made. And then they conducted a pickle tasting for the residents! Everyone chose their favorites and discussed why. It was great fun for all!
Don't forget to join us for a special program on "Avoiding Senior Scams" on Tuesday, November 23 at 2 p.m. in the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Religious and Cultural Center. Please plan to be there as we all increase our awareness.
All the best,
Carol Silver Elliott
