Dear ,
What an amazing week we had at Cedar Village! While we understand that were 30,000 weddings that took place on 10/10/10, we were busy with lots of other activities that day. First, the annual Friends of Cedar Village Monte Carlo event was held on that auspicious date. Not sure if that made it a "lucky day" for those in attendance, but we are sure that everyone there had a great time. All the "gambling" is great fun for residents, visitors, volunteers and staff alike and the Friends make it such a wonderful day for everyone. The Friends of Cedar Village do so much for the residents and for Cedar Village as a whole-if we thanked them all day, every day, it would not be enough! We also had a spectacular outing on that same 10/10/10 date. We took four of the "guys" who are residents in the Health Care Center to the Bengals game. They had a blast! We had one on one staffing for the day to make it possible. All of the attendees were decked out in Bengals wear. For some, it was their first Bengals game ever and for others, their first trip to the new stadium. It was a memorable outing and great fun for all. Of course, the Bengals were winning while Cedar Village was in the house but, when we departed, the score took a turn for the worse! We are so fortunate to have our Harkavy and Berg funds that allow us to take special outings like this one-they really add so much to quality of life for our residents. Speaking of outings, this week we also took two groups to the Goody Shop for end of season treats. They'll soon be closing for the season and we'd had such a good time the last time, we didn't want to miss the opportunity! We took a group from the apartments on Thursday and Health Care on Friday and the weather cooperated for two beautiful (and delicious!) events. And here is a Cedar Village moment I had this week-on Wednesday morning I was in the Health Care Center and said "Hi" to one of our residents. He responded with "Happy Anniversary" and when I looked a little puzzled, he reminded me that it is the one year anniversary of our B'nai Mitzvah Mission to Israel (of which he took part). Hard to believe that a year has passed but glad that it is still such a wonderful, powerful memory.

All the best,

Carol Silver Elliott
