Cedar Village E-News July 30, 2010 |
Can we be starting August already? It does not seem possible that the summer is flying by so quickly. Even on the hottest days, many of our residents love to be outdoors. Using the benches near the main entrance and our beautiful, new Sensory Garden as well as other patio areas and the gazebo, folks are out there enjoying the breeze, reading a book or just having a conversation. We've been doing a lot of programming in the Sensory Garden space and that has worked beautifully. You may remember that the garden has a very large pergola topped with sun resistant fabric which makes that space even more conducive for our use. We are in full swing getting ready for the Cedar Village Golf Classic. It will be at Wetherington this year so it's a new venue for us and we are quite excited about it. If you are a golfer, we'd love to have you join us for either the morning or afternoon rounds. And, if you are not a golfer but would like to spend a delightful evening-you can just make a reservation to join us for dinner. We have amazing raffle prizes and the food is outstanding-you won't want to miss it. But, hurry, time is running out. Call Sally Korkin at 754-3100 or email skorkin@cedarvillage.org so you won't miss the fun. Next Friday we will have our training for CedarFit. It's a new program that we'll be undertaking to help improve wellness and fitness with seniors who are predominately homebound. It's a professionally developed program, with super materials, that will help us educate folks on the simple things they can do make a big difference in their lives. From the proper way to sit and stand to incorporating household items into simple exercises (ever use soup cans to do arm curls?), it is a great program and we're excited to be launching it. There's still room for more volunteers, so let Marcia Westcott if you'd like to join us. You can reach her at 754-3100 or mwestcott@cedarvillage.org.
All the best,
Carol Silver Elliott
