Cedar Village E-News

March 12, 2010

Dear ,

We have had another busy week at Cedar Village and are all delighted to see warmer weathers and . . . could it be . . . sunshine!  The nice weather has brought many folks outside to sit and to walk and we're all happy to see the snow disappear.  This will be the first full summer for our Sensory Garden and we are excited about the prospects of programming in that space-as well as just using it as a space for conversation, relaxation, reading and the like.

One of the highlights of this week was another of our "13 Rabbis, 13 Principles of Faith, 13 Years at Cedar Village" program.  We have had a wide variety of presentations and each has been unique, educational and engaging.  It has been interesting to see the following that these programs have attracted-with a core group attending each session and others coming in based on topic and interest.  It's been a wonderful way to connect community rabbis even more closely with Cedar Village and we've appreciated all the time and energy that they have brought to us.

Next week we have several fun events on the schedule, we hope you can join us for some or all of them!  On Wednesday, March 17, we will hold a special event we are calling "Tea and Charoset!"  We decided to have a tea party and to serve a variety of the different types of charoset that different traditions serve at the Passover Seder.  We will taste and "vote" for our favorites while also sampling some other treats.  That's at 2 p.m. in the Garden Dining Room.  Hope you can be there!

On Thursday, March 18 at 3 p.m. in the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Religious and Cultural Center, we will hold Cedar Village's 13th birthday party!  Please plan to be a part of this special event.  We will have festive decorations and treats and the highlight of our event will be a candle lighting ceremony, with thirteen candles being lit by various individuals and groups important to Cedar Village.  It will be an afternoon to remember, I am sure.

Don't forget-Cedar Village Community Seder on March 29 at 4 p.m. Reservation forms are available at the front desk or by calling 754-3100.  You also won't want to miss "8 over 80" on May 2nd at Adath Israel.  We'll be honoring some very special people:  Wilbur Cohen; Dave Jacobson; Bob Kanter; Florence Lieberman; Lou Nidich; Sue Ransohoff; Dick Weiland and Florence Zaret.  Invitations will be in the mail next week but if you want to make your reservation early, you may contact Sally Korkin at 754-3100 or skorkin@cedarvillage.org.
