Veterans Day Flag Raising |
Dear ,
Veteran's Day was a very special one at Cedar Village. We have a number of veterans who live here and others who work at Cedar Village and we were glad to have an opportunity to honor them. We all gathered by the flagpole at the front of the drive, enjoying the sun and braving the wind. The flag was raised, (it had been at half mast because of the Fort Hood tragedy but we followed the Veteran's Day protocol and fully raised it), we said the pledge of allegiance and then all sang the Star Spangled Banner. When we got inside, we had a fascinating presentation by Specialist Tom Schiffer, who is a veteran of Desert Storm. His talk focused on the differences between wars, a look at "then and now" and the residents and staff had a great dialogue with him. On Thursday, we hosted a luncheon for Naamat and had the opportunity to share some of our stories from the B'nai Mitzvah Mission. We are always happy to talk about this experience and have much to say! If you'd like to have a presentation on this groundbreaking journey, we'd love to come and speak with your group or organization. Just let us know! Here's an opportunity for you-on Friday, November 20, Artworks is hosting a special "secret" art exhibition and sale. Some of the work from our very own OMA program has been entered for the event. It sounds like a great evening, a great way to recognize our OMA artists and a great way to support a worthwhile cause. Check it out ! All the best,
