Oil, Wine & Water!

| We are all a little sad--and amazed--that we are going home tomorrow! How quickly the time has flown. We woke up this morning to a phone call from our guide letting us know that the B'nai Mitzvah video was on Israeli television this morning! We were very excited and it was wonderful to hear the comments by the newcasters, that they were so impressed with this achievement and that they hoped they would be able to be as active as our residents when they reach that age!
Our day began with a tour of some sites that are important in Christian tradition, helping us to understand the various faith traditons that all originate here in Israel. We drove through the Golan Heights and stopped at the border of Israel and Syria. We've now seen both the Lebanese and Syrian borders and it has reinforced much of what we all know about the State of Israel and its vulnerability.
From there we headed to an olive oil factory in Katzrin. It was a fascinating tour and we had a great lunch. We even tried out some olive oil-based products and marveled at the variety available!
From there, we headed to the Golan Heights winery. We learned about making wine and even had some samples. It was great fun and the winery guide was delightful. Everyone had a ball.
We finished our day with what has become a mission tradition, a boat ride on the Sea of Galillee. We had music, some dancing, singing and a lot of laughter. It was a perfect night for it and we had so much fun. We all concluded that Cedar Village rocks!
Tomorrow we reluctantly load our bags on the bus and head to Tel Aviv. Our flight is very late Thursday night and we'll be back in Cincinnati on Friday morning. It has been an experience that we will always treasure. Thanks to all of you who have helped to make it possible. |
