Library thief booked In October, people started finding that some of the books they were pulling from the Health Sciences Library's shelves were mysteriously mauled or eviscerated. Still other books - not the kind money-motivated thieves might target - went missing. A step toward banks of "immortal" skin cells? The campus is one of five places in the U.S. where new, genetically engineered skin tissue is being tested. The payoff - including less pain and disfigurement and a reliable supply of tissue - for burn victims would be enormous. >>More

A publishing boom in Nursing Thanks to a group of "manuscript mentors," 2011 was a banner communications year for UCH nurses, who published a dozen professional articles, a book, and made numerous poster presentations at symposiums, seminars and other professional gatherings. Mentors, for example, helped Dianne Leeth, RN (left), publish an article now on display near the Outpatient Surgery area. >>More

A UCH/Children's collaboration that's still paying off Eighteen years ago there was a baby in the NICU struggling to survive pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and with few prospects of ever reaching adulthood. Children's Hospital Colorado and UCH joined forces to save his life. Patients today continue to benefit from the collaboration.
