DBS Patients Make Most of New Lives Two active-again Parkinson's patients lend support to UCH patients preparing for or undergoing deep brain stimulation, a complex therapy that creates a kind of pacemaker for the brain that helped control their symptoms. Epic's first "go-live" set for February 2011 With a just-finished map for how to juggle a dizzying number of factors, the hospital has scheduled when the first wave of Ambulatory clinics will start using the new EMR. Depression and pregnancy They're not often thought of together, but as many as 13 percent of perinatal women suffer depressive episodes, and primary care providers, including OB/Gyns and midwives, aren't always on the lookout for them. A medical tourism uptick Last year, a patient from Russia journeyed here to get care at the Cancer Center. Now, thanks to a new tie to the State University of Novgorod, another Russian patient already is on her way here.

2,575 years at UCH One hundred twenty-nine much-experienced UCH-ers, plus 16 of their just-retired colleagues, gathered April 7 to mark another milestone. In all, they represented 2.5 millennia of treating patients and making the hospital go.
