How to Help a Friend...
- Be a friend.
- Be trustworthy and dependable.
- Be sensitive to the possibility that survivors of abuse may feel unworthy and uncomfortable.
- Withhold judgment.
- Don't expect them to quickly (or possibly ever, for that matter) "forgive and forget" or "just get over it."
- Be sensitive to the needs and feelings of the abused.
- Help survivors of abuse understand that what happen to them was NOT their fault.

GET INVOLVED TODAY!
How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.
-Anne Frank
Support. One of the most valuable ways to help those who have been abused is to show them that we care. Giving our time and encouragement to someone will often be more valuable than even the most generous gift. LISTEN, BELIEVE and ENCOURAGE. By providing love and support we make a special effort that can make a real difference in the lives of others.
Share information and or resources that may be helpful to the survivor. In many cases we will not be able to solve someone's problems by ourselves, but we can advise them on what they can do for themselves, or what others can do for them.
Speak Out. Let everyone know that any form of abuse is not okay. Support legislation and politicians that are in support of ending violence. Educate others about forms of abuse. Reduce prejudices and stereotypes about victims of abuse. Together we make a difference.
