RECOMMENDED This Weekend

Summer isn't over yet even though Fall officially starts on September 22nd. It's still hot and there are still plenty of cool events - below you'll find a few we think are particularly interesting things to do this week in L.A...

Challenger
NEWS YOU CAN USE: The space shuttle Endeavor is slated for retirement and display at the California Science Center in Expo Park starting on October 30th. However, this Friday morning (9/21) the shuttle will make an appearance flying low over Los Angeles on the back of its 747 transport around 11am-noon (an hour later than expected due to fog in San Francisco).

If you're unsure about seeing it from your hood and don't want to miss an opportunity to take a quick glimpse at history then head on down to a few major landmarks and join others to watch Endeavor fly on by.

  • Santa Monica Pier
  • Los Angeles City Hall
  • California Science Center
  • Getty Center
  • Hollywood Sign
  • Universal Studios
  • Griffith Observatory
  • Disneyland
Please drive safely and pull over to a complete stop if you happen to be on the road as the space shuttle flies by.

Find out more via LAObserved.com. The shuttle is on its way to LA and will reside in a hanger at LAX until it is transported via city streets over 2 days starting October 12th. Little Tokyo, a fun place to explore anytime, has a large model of the Challenger space shuttle. You will see that and more if your take the self-guided walking tour there.

"Three Views of the Same Object" is a Tour de Force by M.R. Hunter

Three Views play

The question this anxiety poses is tackled by playwright Henry Murray in a Greek structure that presents three stories with two main characters grappling with a mortal decision in three startling and devastating conclusions. Inspired by an elderly couple Murray observed years ago struggling to get their mail, the subject of aging in America and the stoic suffering it can bring is handled with profound care, reverence and without a whiff of patronizing sentimentality. This isn't your grandmother's doily laden puff piece about getting on in years gracefully. It is raw, vicious and multidimensional in its versatile form. Murray hits this one out of the ballpark.

STOVALL'S SPACE AGE INN OF TOMORROW, ANAHEIM, 1972

by Charles Phoenix

How much are we all loving those astro piņatas orbiting alongside that inner galactic galaxy of hanging lamps? They mix and mingle so well with that big blue futuristic video game, early automotive kit craft wall art and pea green armadillo sniffing the beautiful blue green shag carpet. Those blue and green hoops and bubbles glued on the bannister and front desk don't disappoint either.

When it comes to tomorrow, more is more....

Summer is officially over and Halloween is right around the corner. We'll have a tremendous amount of energy due to the upcoming cooler temperatures. The start of October may see tempers flaring. Take whatever comes in stride. Most signs will be extremely busy and productive. This is an excellent time to push final projects up and out. There's an ideal window of opportunity for gains and lucky breaks until November, so maximize this Saturn and Uranus square. Then we can all relax just in time for the holidays. Stay the course and keep striving.
