RECOMMENDED This Weekend

FREE STUFF:

  • Head downtown for the grand opening of Grand Park.  Take the Metro Red Line to the Civic Center station for free opening events on Saturday & Sunday.
  • Chinatown Summer Nights returns Saturday evening with a free party in Chinatown Plaza. KCRW DJs spin toe tapping tunes for all ages.  Cooking and other cultural demonstrations, food trucks etc.

HOT & SPICY FESTIVALS THIS WEEKEND:  The 19th Annual Crawfish Festival in Long Beach is always awesome and an entertainment/food bargain.  More spice at the 19th Annual Salsa Festival in Oxnard.

BARGAINS: the Eye Spy LA Discounts page is full of great deals for interesting entertainment and activities. These discounts are offered directly from the event and activity producers and so do not have the extra ticketing fees that other discount ticketing services may charge you.

TIP: you can find events and other things to do near you - you'll find neighborhood and regional calendar links at the bottom of all Eye Spy LA web pages.

It's hot in the city this month but we need to stay cool, especially while Mercury is in Retrograde through August 8. Make sure to leave extra time for commutes, flights and other travels. Any plans that have been started before July 14 should be followed through, however anything involving contracts or major financial expenditures should wait until Mercury goes direct. This is an excellent time for coming up with innovative ideas so long as we don't rush into rash action. Use the next three weeks to ponder and reflect. Minimize saying more than is necessary now.

A MILLION WORDS ABOUT DICKS

 by Samuel Bernstein

The Irish Curse
The men talk and talk and then talk some more-endlessly blaming their failures and unhappiness on their diminutive sexual organs. There are some laughs along the way, and the actors are quite charming and able for the most part...

ABOUT EYE SPY LA

Eye Spy LA has been the online Local's Guide to L.A. since 2003. Content is written, edited and maintained by locals and focuses on local and nearby events and the local creative community.

Editorial policy: Eye Spy LA editorials are stories written about places, entertainment and events that we go to. The opinions are those of our editorial staff and the writer of the piece. Calendar listings are ads posted by the people producing events and activities in the local area. Each week we pick and recommend events and other things to do based on our experience or sometimes because they look particularly unusual, unique or in some other way interesting. We do not recommend them based on any fees they may or may not have paid us for advertising.

You'll always find the latest events & activities plus commentary about where we've been at eyespyLA.com - updated daily.
