Red Hot! Firecrackers, Hearts, Art & Love Birds
It's a sizzlin', cracklin', heart-poppin' week for lovers and loners with Chinatown's 2012 Firecracker 10k/5k this weekend and Valentine's Day on Tuesday.

Run in Chinatown The 10k at this popular annual fundraising event is often used as a warm up race for the LA Marathon. Lion dancers, firecrackers, and a festival make this a colorful event for spectators. Saturday and Sunday, free to the public and easy to get to (Metro Gold Line Chinatown Station).

Paint the Town Red
Dinner, flowers and chocolate is soooo...dated and done. Do something different with your honey you'll both enjoy without the stress this Valentine's. XOXO!

Still need help creating a Valentine's to remember? You'll find everything to your heart's content on our Valentine's Day Calendar.

On Screen Romance

Snuggle up in the dark and split some popcorn while cozing up to these romantic classics.

The Eye Spy LA FILM page is always a great place to find film experiences that are beyond the blockbuster cineplex and often include after discussions with film makers.

There's more of course.  See all of this week's Editors Picks or view the full Eye Spy LA Calendar

TIP: you can find events and other things to do near you - you'll find neighborhood and regional calendar links at the bottom of all Eye Spy LA web pages.

OUTRAGEOUS, LIFE-CHANGING "ART"
By Mark Share

The Emmy Award-winning director David Lee brings a light comic touch to the revival of Yasmina Reza's Tony Award-winning play Art. Even for those who may not have enjoyed Reza's more recent, and more prickly God of Carnage, there is much to appreciate in the pathos, humor, and torrents of clever words and speeches that make up the modern classic, Art.

"FAIRY TALE THEATRE 18+" IS PEE IN YOUR PANTS FUNNY
By M.R. Hunter

I'm going to open my review with some sage advice: Don't drink anything before this show as there's no intermission and you'll likely wet your pants from all the gut-wrenching laughter. Also, (and this is for the ladies), plan to schedule a Botox injection to rid yourself of those new laugh lines you'll have after this show.

Fairy Tale Theatre Other than that, all the advice you'll need about how to circumvent the tricky waters of adulthood is in this clever mash-up of moralizing tales UNsuitable for younger audiences but a crack-up for everyone else who could benefit from absurdly wise guidance...

POLLO ALA BRASA CHICKEN: SO GOOD, FEW WORDS ARE NEEDED
By Abby Abanes

For awhile now, I've been hearing from friends about how good Pollo a la Brasa's Peruvian Chicken was. Though it took awhile, I finally made it there with said friends. Now if you're looking for fancy, this isn't the place. Think hole in the wall dining and you've hit the mark.

Simply, the chicken was fantastic...
