CIRQUE DU SOLEIL HALTS HOLLYWOOD FOR THE PREMIERE OF IRIS by Mark Share
Hollywood Boulevard was closed and transformed into a street party Sunday night to fęte the world premiere of Cirque du Soleil's newest spectacle Iris. The show is a major investment in bringing crowds to the Kodak Theatre and by extension the restaurants at the Hollywood and Highland Center. The city and the impressarios are all excited, and created a fantastic party to celebrate.
It is always impressive to close part of a major street in this city of cars. There was a Ferris Wheel, tents and suspended chandeliers, pumping music, and saturated colors in the lighting. As for food and drink, there was champagne flowing, french pastries and macarons, shiny Nespresso capsules and machines frothing milk and espresso, international fare from Susan Feniger's cutting-edge restaurant Street, meat from the gastropub Boho and fine dining The Grill, and much more.
The large and happy crowds spilling out from the Kodak after enjoying Iris ate it all up.
IRIS A Journey Through the World of Cinema is now playing at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. |
