ArtWalkThis week in L.A.

This weekend hit the streets for the always popular Fall Brewery Artwalk, a Taste of Encino in the Valley, a Taste of the Pier in Redondo Beach, or to Celebrate the Arts in Monrovia. Then strap on your skates, tie on your sneakers, or hop on a bike to really pound the pavement as L.A. closes more than 7 miles of Downtown L.A. streets to cars for the first time ever CICLAVIA open street Sunday. Or for a Big Squeeze head to Orange County for the 2nd annual Accordian Festival.

After all that walking you may want to sit down awhile at the Ice House 50th Anniversary All Star Comedy Show or play a tune on your didgeridoo at Music in the Mountains in Franklin Canyon, or watch horses pound the turf at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Will Rogers State Park.

Or, there's more of course... on the Eye Spy LA Calendar

Singin' in the RainSINGIN' IN THE RAIN AT THE NORRIS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS by Kelly Hargraves

I took my musical loving teenage daughter to see "Singin ' In the Rain" at the Norris Center in Rolling Hills. The teen raised on "High School Musical" and "Glee", who longs for a life on Broadway. "Just enjoy it cause it's so much fun , mom!" she implores. Just "enjoy" art? This is something I do not understand. It's funny to me that I can "read" the most experimental, Euro performance art with ease, yet with musical theatre, I am not sure what I am supposed to "read." My instinct is rather than to write about the significance of the actual play, is to write about the play at this point in history?
