SUMMER ENTERTAINMENT PREVIEW

If you've got a cooler, a blanket, some friends and a picnic, you'll find plenty of free and low cost al fresco entertainment all over town.

OUTDOOR CONCERTS:
  • The Hollywood Bowl - the quintessential summer experience.
  • Just across the freeway,  the much smaller Ford Amphitheatre provides a more intimate outdoor experience
OUTDOOR MOVIES:
  • Cinespia (film screenings at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary) .
  • The technology that makes outdoor screens possible has become so readily available, chances are there are free movie screenings in a park or parking lot near you.
OUTDOOR THEATRE: Summer season is Shakespeare season.

FREE OUTDOOR ENTERTAINMENT:  Some of the best things in summer are free. You'll find free concerts, film screenings and theatre in parks, shopping centers, museums, and other nooks and crannies that have a patch of grass or some asphalt to setup a stage and some seating in.  Grand Performances at the California Plaza and Concerts On the Green at Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills are a couple of popular venues.

You'll find more summer entertainment and other events and activities on the EYE SPY LA SUMMER GUIDE - updated regularly throughout the summer season.

There is more of course...
Just visit the Eye Spy LA Calendar  and explore all the options this week and beyond.

Charles Phoenix goes to Knott's Berry Farm and gets an invitation to the Playboy Mansion...
