Also this weekend the 19th Annual Photo LA Photographic Exposition is back at the Santa Monica Convention Center, Theatre of Note hosts its 15th Annual Performance Marathon, and there's an opportunity to get rid of some of your e-junk in North Hollywood.

SUSPEND DISBELIEF IN 11, SEPTEMBER @ THE ODYSSEY by M.R. Hunter
Capitalizing on the infamous date of 9/11 as a catalyst for personal tragedies, Paul Kampf's two-hander play strains against incredulity as a series of improbable events reveal a shared past between ill-fated lovers. Vague allusions to chaos theory and randomness principles provides some context for the arbitrary way these strangers hook up, but does not fully explain why these self-effacing characters divulge their deepest, darkest secrets in a pillow-talk turned confessional.
What starts as a casual encounter for aimless server Angela Madison (Liz Rebert) and an ex-patriot mathematician, Martin Healy (Paul Kampf) becomes an examination in causality. Despite the constant interruptions of Angela's phone ringing and a run-in with her jealous ex-boyfriend Doug, their one-night stand develops in a matter of days into reflective commiserations on past loves, painful childhoods and the lingering what if's in their lives. The suspense steadily builds with each new revelation leading to a shocking discovery and climax...

THIS WEEK IN DANCE by Kelly Hargraves
January and we're back on the boards! REDCAT starts all the movement with two shows in the next week: THE WOODEN FLOOR, a new work by The Santa Ana youth dance company with choreography by renowned choreographers Mark Haim, Nami Yamamoto and company artistic director Melanie Ríos Glaser. And then, the intriguing Grupo de Rua, the all-male crew recruited from the street dance scene in Rio. H3, the latest work by choreographer Bruno Beltrão opens a new chapter in Grupo's ongoing convergence of contemporary and hip-hop dance, with an elaborate crossover of krumping, popping, locking and breakdance.
Also, out west at Highways this weekend, "THE SURVEILLANCE SOLOS" an Evening Length Dance-Theater Work by up -and-coming Rebecca Alson-Milkman...

LIGHTS, ACTION, COWBOYS? by Nancy Mills
 It all started with "Howdy ma'am." "Howdy ma'am," said cowboy #1 in the really big hat.
"Howdy ma'am," said cowboy #2 in the flashy rhinestone shirt. And while they were howdying me and ma'aming me (to death), I'm thinking to myself, where the heck am I? I mean, the last time I did a reality check, I was sure I was walking down Broadway. I was not, I REPEAT NOT, on the Ponderosa or at Disneyland. As a matter of fact, I was out solo for the monthly art walk, minding my own business. Honest, ma'am. Honest. It wasn't until I saw the strobes and the limos and this other really tall cowboy #3, looking like he had just shot 20 bad guys, went to a saloon, belted a few, and was back to shoot some more - that I finally realized where I was...
