NEW YEAR, NEW DECADE, NEW EYE SPY LA
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! The Eye Spy LA website has been completely redesigned for the new year to make it easier than ever (I hope) to find the events, entertainment and activites you want to know about and go to.
Not only does the site have a new look, but it also has some new features to help you navigate through the site content. A right sidebar has been added and you'll find what I've dubbed as Spy Boxes on both sides which are little scrollable windows showing current events for various topics. There is also a Spy Box for This Month's events that allows you to choose other months to look at as well - so you can plan ahead.
Take a look at the new www.eyespyla.com. All feedback appreciated! And please let me know if you find any glitches - because stuff does happen...
MORE changes and added features coming in the weeks ahead.
Live long and prosper!

I'M STILL STANDING - SO THERE! by Nancy Mills
The last time I went ice skating - it was with my mother when I was eight. I wasn't good then, and you don't have to remind me that A LOT OF TIME has passed since then. I'm looking at the same picture that you're looking at. But sometimes your spirit just calls you to do something crazy. And my inner spirit said, "Nancy, go ice skating in Pershing Square. You'll have a blast."
Well, my spirit lied. Sort of. Not really. I'll explain.
What actually happened is this - the woman who does PR for Pershing Square contacted me. "Hey, I like your blog. You're funny. You wanna go ice skating?"
"Sure," I said, liking the idea, because it was interesting, eccentric (come on, it's like 80 degrees here), very downtown LA in the winter time, and nuts.
And once I hung up, I said to myself, "I AM NUTS. I'll kill myself. I'm going to fall on my face - need plastic surgery. Get crushed by a skate. Turn into a popsicle. Die." ... Read the FULL STORY |
A HIGH FLYING NEW YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION by Andrea Kirk
On New Year's Eve the Eye Spy LA street team rode the rails (the Metro Blue Line) to the free public celebration in Downtown Long Beach. The event promised entertainment in various areas of downtown, a midnight light show, a world record breaking stunt jump onto a barge in Rainbow Harbor, and fireworks at midnight off the Queen Mary. Long Beach delivered. We didn't have to drive there and back, we dropped into the Rockbottom Brewery for a pre-event dinner (there is a huge selection of eateries in the area - Rockbottom proved to be a good choice), and the view from the Ferris Wheel at the Pike was awesome. Okay, the video was a bit shakey after the Martinis...
