THIS WEEK in L.A.

Last chance to snag some chocolate covered bacon and other interesting fair food at the L.A. County Fair plus a fiesta of festivals elsewhere ... this weekend in LA.

This Saturday head to Eagle Rock for the 11th Annual Eagle Rock Music Festival.  This free all ages street fest features local bands.

No matter where you live chances are there is some kind of festival nearby.  In Seal Beach go to the Japan America Kite Festival, in the San Gabriel Valley head to the Angel Festival, Nokia Plaza hosts the Finish Line Festival for the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathalon downtown, in Orange County you'll find the Annual Fall Pet Days and the Annual Silverado Country Fair, Old Town Newhall hosts the Santa Clarita Arts Festival, and celebrate Latino Heritage with a parade and a jamaica in Pasadena.

MORE, MUCH MORE ... more recommendations and all the details on the Eye Spy LA Calendar.

EYE SPY LA - Went to the Soapbox Derby and the L.A. County Fair

Red Bull Soapbox Derby L.A.Eye Spy LA hit the streets for the Red Bull Soapbox races last Saturday. There were more than 100,000 people down there to watch. Much of the action was in the pit area and the best view of the races was on the giant screens Red Bull put up at the event. The start was at 4th and Grand and the finish was on 5th at Pershing Square. Click on the photo to see video of pole dancers on stage, America's Economy poised to go down hill, people perched precariously to get a good view, and all the rest of the spine tingling action.

L.A. County Fair FoodL.A. COUNTY FAIR TIPS: This is the last week at the fair and if you go during the day it can get mighty hot - cool off in the shady areas near Bark Park and the Home & Garden exhibits. Watch out for extreme fair food - they'll fry anything there - who knows what's on the menu this year. My favorite eats: hand dipped ice cream bars and smoked turkey legs. But you may prefer chocolate covered bacon or fair fried frogs legs. Click the photo to see the short eyespyla.com "Fair Food" video.
