August 16, 2010

Happy Monday! I'm back from a fabulous Summer CHA show and also snuck some family vacation time last week. It's always so fun to meet up with the vendors and friends from all over the country.

CHA Summer 2010 B

Putting faces to those you email and hearing their voices is such a treat. Meeting some eP customers at the Craft SuperShow was the cherry on top.
CHA Summer 2010 friends
In this newsletter, I am back to share some of my favorite CHA finds from a stamper/card maker perspective. At the trade show most vendors are scrapbook oriented but there are some that really cater or think about the stamper and card maker. Samples in most of the booths really proved that paper crafting has gone beyond simple scrapbooking and simple card making. There was definitely works of art and beautiful altered projects everywhere.  Scouring the CHA floor for new and exciting paper craft products is always an adventure and pure fun.

Get your pencil and paper out and start making your wish list! All I can say is that it is starting to feel a little like Christmas at the eP warehouse. Seems like daily deliveries of new goodies to offer you. I am excited to share some of the new arrivals with you today.

Fiskars Tools

SureCut™ Card Making 9" Paper Trimmer
Fiskars Card Trimmer
Fiskars always has the paper crafter in mind when they develop their tools. This new SureCut™ Card Making 9" Paper Trimmer is really made for you. It is portable, has a visible wire line so you can see where you cut, and has 1/16" lines grid lines. It uses the same Triple Track rail system that you may have come to love.  This new size is perfect for all the mats and cuts that card makers use. It even has grid holes along the left hand side so you can insert it into a binder. If you love the large SureCut™ Paper Trimmer, this new Card Making 9" Trimmer will rock your card making world.

We also have the refills and scor-blade available for the this new trimmer. It uses the same Triple Track blades as the larger version.

Compact Stamp Press
Fiskars Stamp press

I got to play with the Fiskars Compact Stamp Press at a recent Hero Arts class. It really is small but also big enough to for large stamps. It has sponge feet so that you can freely experiment where you want your image before you press down. So you can ink and still get a little time to figure out where you want to stamp. The sponge feet really help from your image placement from shifting. It's perfect fro some of the larger stamps out there and really helps to put even pressure those big images. Or, you create your own image with your favorite stamp combination and stamp it over and over again. There are grid lines for perfect placement. It's a really cool and new alternative to traditional acrylic blocks.

You can view several of Jennifer McGuire's videos and see her using this stamp press. She is such an enabler on top of being a creative stamper.

Scor-Buddy Mini Scoring Tablet & Mini Mat
by Scor Pal

Although the Scor-Buddy Mini Scoring Tablet was first introduced at WiScor Buddynter CHA, it was still a popular find and first discovery for many at this Summer CHA Show. We already sold through our first batch and just received another shipment so you won't miss out. The Scor-Buddy Mini Scoring Tablet comes with it's own bag so you can carry it to your next workshop or crop.

Scor Buddy Mini Mat
At this Summer CHA show, Scor-Pal introduced the Mini Mat for go with the Scor-Buddy Mini. The Mini Mat is so cute and useful with the grid lines and self-healing capability. Not too big, not too's "goldilocks" as my kids would say. The Scor Buddy Mini Mat is "just right!"

We also just received another shipment of the popular Scor-Tape and the Scor-bug.

The best thing about the Scor-Tape is that it is really sturdy, great for 3D projects, and you can tear it with your fingers(i.e. no scissors necessary). You can never have enough Scor-Tape.
Unity Stamps Summer Releases
Unity Stamps

Oh My Goodness! My head was spinning when I saw the the Unity Stamp Summer CHA releases. Talk about variety! Between their collaborations with Cosmo Cricket, Samantha Walker, Donna Downey & Melody Ross, there were new Unity Stamps. They debuted a whole new line of stamps called ITTY BITTY. Each stamp measures approximately 2.5 x 3 inches, all mounted on cling foam. Itty Bitty by Unity are single stamps with the most cute and diverse designs, too. They will retail fro $3.99 and there 50, yes FIFTY, stamps in this new release. Here are couple of my favorite.

Clear Scraps 12x12 Acrylic Sheets
By Clear Scraps

I think as stampers and altered art enthusiasts, we are always on the look out for some alternative surface other than paper to stamp on. There is some truth in the phrase "if it doesn't move, stamp it." My CHA friends and I came upon the Clear Scraps booth and saw this clear box that they were making.

Clear Scraps sample

Clear Scraps took one of their 12x12 clear sheets, die cut it, embossed it through the Big Shot and voila, a very pretty altered clear box. Oh the possibilities with some alcohol inks, paints, and and more!

These 12x12 clear sheets are now available for purchase by single sheet. We also have a clear Mini Tag Album and clear ATC card pack if you want to try out some smaller surfaces. Check out my friend, Micki Harper, and her blog entry in regards to Clear Scraps at CHA.

The Compendium of Curiosities Technique Challenge Series
Week 10:
Distress Stickles

Hosted by
Studio L3 (Linda LedbetterSL2 WK10

SL3 BadgeDon't forget to visit Studio L3 and see what challenge Linda Ledbetter posted. This is the 10th week of the challenge - and it's a easy one. You probably have some Distressed Stickles in your stamping arsenal. It is a little thicker than regular Stickles Glitter glue and the Distressed Stickles colors all coordinate with the Tim Holtz Distress color palette. Distressed Stickles are more like shimmery shards of glass when dried. It gives a vintage and nostalgic look. It is not a dimensional liquid so it will dry flat but make your projects "oh-so-pretty".

Visit Linda's blog all this week to view some of the tags that many talented stampers will upload. There are prizes involved, too, if you give it a try and share your project.

You can always visit our store section called tim's muse to see all the products that are featured in the Compendium of Curiosities book.
