In lieu of October's Speaking of Photography, APG would like to encourage members to attend:

Atlanta Contemporary Art Center
Wednesday, October 17, 7 - 9:00PM

Influential curator and writer Marvin Heiferman discusses his newest book, Photography Changes Everything. In dialogue with ACAC Artistic Director Stuart Horodner, he offers an overview of the publication's focus - how photographs shape our understanding of ourselves and the world. He will discuss the texts commissioned from experts, writers, inventors, and public figures, including Hugh Hefner, John Baldessari, John Waters, Robert Adams, and many others.
Photography Changes Everything provides a unique opportunity to better understand the history, practice, and power of photography at this transitional moment in visual culture.

CHECK OUT THE ACP GUIDE for additional upcoming shows and events. APG members are well represented throughout the guide!

Showing through November 10th

Congratulations to Barry Vangrov and Michelle Norris as the recipients of the APG/MOCA Virginia Twinam Smith Print Purchase Awards!
The photos above were selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia. Michelle is a BFA Photography student at the University of Georgia, and Barry is an Atlanta-based photographer specializing in both fine art landscape and architectural photography.

Eligibility for the Print Purchase Award was determined by acceptance into Jane Jackson Selects. This is a new program for APG, and thanks to Virginia, we're happy to announce that the same program will be in place for next year's Selects Show! So keep that in mind when you start mulling over your options for exhibiting during ACP next year!

BUT, in the meantime, we're introducing another award program...

THE APG-HIGH MUSEUM PRINT PURCHASE PROGRAM
in conjunction with

This program is in collaboration with the High Museum, and provides the opportunity for one artist to have their work selected for the
permanent collection of the High Museum.

Brett Abbott, HMA Curator of Photography will review the work selected by juror Paul Martineau, Getty Museum. If Mr. Abbott would like to acquire work for the Museum's permanent collection, APG will purchase the work from the artist and donate it to the High.

A $2500 purchase award is available for this program.

Deadline to enter Portfolio Show is October 27, 2012
Show Dates: December 14 - February 2nd, 2013
See website for more information; entry form HERE
