***THIS JUST IN! EXCLUSIVE FOR APG!*** SPECIAL ORACLE @ WIFI PERFORMANCE WITH BETH LILY Saturday, July 14, 8am until 7pm As part of the "Outside The Frame" exhibition, I will be taking calls Saturday July 14, from 8am - 7pm from the Atlanta area only. Three lucky people will have their reading added to the exhibition! Have a question? The Oracle has answers. This is how it works: - Think of a question.
- Call my cell phone at 404-805-5431
- When I answer the phone, keep your question secret!
- Simply tell me you have a question for the Oracle and give me an email address.
- I will then make three photographs and email to you!
All "readings" will be posted on the Oracle @ WiFi blog and the three best will be printed and added to the exhibition! NEW! Follow me on Twitter, @sbethlilly. I'll be Tweeting all the images as I make them and the questions as I receive them. Remember, I don't know the question until AFTER I've taken the photos.

JULY SPEAKING OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Brett Abbott, curator of Photography, High Museum of Art in Conversation with Chip Simone Wednesday, July 18, 7:30 PM
This summer, the High is exhibiting more photography at one time than ever before. Special exhibits: Picturing the South, Picturing New York and Cancer Alley, as well as works from the High's permanent collection are currently on exhibition throughout the Museum. One visit will not be enough to absorb the vast array of imagery included in the exhibitions. We encourage members to take a good look at all the work in the HMA exhibits with emphasis on range and diversity. Consider all the ways that photography is used to express personal issues and concerns and how this applies to you. What lessons can we learn about photography overall from seeing this exhibit so diverse in style, scale, content and intent? Can we make generalizations about the nature of the medium?
Recent reviews from Arts Atlanta and NYTimes:
Arts Atlanta Review of Kael Alford's "Bottom of da Boot" New York Times Review of the High's "Picturing the South"
The talk is free and open to the public. Donations and Memberships make programs like this possible. APG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

-- 3 1/2 WEEKS LEFT TO ENTER!--
Show Dates: October 5th - November 14th, 2012
10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD ENTER:
1. Your work viewed by THOUSANDS daily in the central atrium of the world's busiest airport. (We could stop there, but we're just getting started....)
2. A chance to have your work seen by juror Amy Miller, Executive Director of Atlanta Celebrates Photography. If you're new to the show circuit, read more about Amy Miller here. Which brings us to number 3 ..... 3. No prior show experience necessary. That's right, you can be brand spankin' new to the scene and still have an equal shot at being accepted into the show! Just ask any of our past photographers who had never even entered an APG show. 4. You will be published in the Fall Line Press limited edition catalog, "Fall Out." Yes, PUBLISHED. This exhibition publication is being produced specifically for The Airport Show, and will feature an essay and information about each photographer and their work. (See more information and other publications by Fall Line Press here.) 5. You don't have to mat or frame any of your work! APG will handle ALL matting and framing of selected images, with only a $20 matting fee per photo! When's the last time you paid $20 to have a photo professionally matted and framed? Not to mention the hassle of actually doing the framing.6. Only $50 to enter 6 images, or $75 to enter 12 images. Sounds like a sweet deal when you consider number 5, eh?
7. Promotion of the show in October's Atlanta Celebrates Photography guide -- the go-to guide for info and dates on the 150+ events and exhibitions held during the city-wide festival. You know you want to be in there. 8. Promotion of participating photographers through APG's website, facebook page, and newsletters. Names and links included, so get those websites up and running! 9. A SECOND show of your work seen at the APG gallery in January 2013. Proceeds from sales support APG's many programs and events. However, photographers will have the option of retaining up to 50% of sales. 10. And really, just super cool bragging rights when you're accepted into the show! So now that we have your brain sifting through all of those visual files for potential entries, record this date....
DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: AUGUST 4, 2012 And while you're at it, just go ahead and print out the entry form HERE. |
