Thanks to everyone who attended the Members Meeting on Saturday! A special thanks to Ted Maloof for his donation of "Okefenokee Dawn" as the ultimate door prize. Richard Ediger was the lucky winner, but no one left empty handed! Door prizes also included $25 gift cards from Digital Arts, and Canson Photographic Paper packs from Binders Art Supply. For those of you who couldn't make it, here's the recap... Showcase Camera & Video started us out by distributing VIP cards, which entitles cardholders to discounts and special offers. The card is only offered to photography groups, but make sure you mention APG when you make your first purchase, since the program awards a percentage of the sales to APG to use towards exhibitions and events. If you couldn't make the meeting, you can still email Polly Barr to find out how you can get your very own VIP card. We also learned about various classes offered by The Showcase School of Photography, so check 'em out! Or like Showcase on facebook to have instant access to current deals and promotions. Binders Art Supply distributed $5 gift cards to everyone and showed us some of their latest products, including small portfolios perfect for quick presentations. We also learned that Binders has increased their selection of pre-cut mat sizes and offers bulk discounts for larger orders. Contact Stuart Shapiro for more information on special discounting. Most importantly, Binders now offers 40% off framing to APG members, in addition to their Give Back Program, which returns a percentage of the sales to APG. You can show Binders some love, and like them on facebook as well!
Digital Arts wasn't able to make the meeting but was generous in providing $25 gift cards as door prizes. Visit their site online, or stop by the store to learn about their discount pricing for artists. We're very appreciative to our friends at Digital Arts for the fine printing of the APG show invitations, as well as the large scale printing and framing of photos for the Airport Show. You can be their friend too! You guessed it.... like them on facebook!
Maria Joyner, APG's newest board member, presented a sneak peek of APG's new and improved website! The design is clean and easy to navigate, and will hopefully make its debut in the near future. Stay tuned! Among the improvements you'll see are a calendar of events, the ability to pay entry fees online, and easy access for social networking/sharing. We're still kicking around ideas about linking to member galleries and news. APG extends a special thanks to resigning board members, Don Bryant, Danny Maughon, and Tom Meiss for their valuable contributions to the group. As most of you already know, APG is a non-profit organization run almost entirely by volunteers. There are a host of volunteer opportunities available, ranging from gallery sitting, to data input, to painting and hanging shows. So if you have a special talent you'd like to share, or can even gallery sit as little as one day per year, your time is always appreciated! Check out other volunteer opportunities here. Or simply renew your membership at a higher level for a quick and easy financial contribution!

SPEAKING OF PHOTOGRAPHY WITH PHILIP GROSSMAN
CHERNOBYL: ZONE OF EXCLUSION
Wednesday, June 20th, 7:30PM

Photographer Philip Grossman shares his photos and experiences from his recent journey to the Chernobyl Nuclear Complex, the site of the world's worst nuclear accident. During Philip's four day excursion into the Zone of Exclusion, he was able to gain unfettered access to 30 separate locations, including an abandoned children's summer camp, vehicle graveyards, kindergartens and schools, the interior of the never completed reactors 5 and 6, as well as extremely rare access to the control room of reactor 4, the site of the nuclear catastrophe.
