Commack, NY, October 6 2011 - Today at 10:30am, Huntington-based non-profit organization Splashes of Hope will celebrate the unveiling of their largest mural ever at the UCP Suffolk Children's Center, located in Azalea Court, Commack. The mural, covering all four 24-foot-high walls in the facility's indoor play space, features the center's bear mascot in each of the four seasons.
UCP of Suffolk Children's Center August 2011 The artwork for this large-scale piece took two weeks and 20 volunteers to paint, all under the direction of Splashes of Hope's Founder & Executive Director Heather Buggee. At the start of the center's new school year, the mural has sparked the imagination of the center's young students who suffer from cerebral palsy. Teachers at the center have noticed an increase in the energy of their students, and they have found new games to play by utilizing the characters in the mural.
This project was funded by guests of Splashes of Hope's Annual Gala & Art Auction this past April. The 2012 Annual Gala & Art Auction will be held on April 20th at Lands End in Sayville.
