Advanced/Professional Workshops

Winter Schedule 2011

January 22 & 29
Jimmy Slyde material taught by Roxane Butterfly ($60/2 weeks or $30/week)

How do tap dancers construct a rhythmical thought and then challenge the body within space to communicate this thought? Through learning signature-steps from tap master Jimmy Slyde, students will be given practical ''keys'' to the improvisational ''system'' of one of the most lyrical rhythm-tapper ever.

February 5,12 & 26
Musicianship for tap dancers taught by Margaret Morrison ($90/3 weeks or $30/week)

Professional skills tap dancers need to work with live musicians in tap jams, rehearsals and when creating your own compositions, including musical structures, how to call and count in tunes, communicating clearly and creating musical arrangements.

March 5, 12 & 19
Pete Nugent's "Breezin'" taught by Susan Hebach ($90/3 weeks or $30/week)

A gorgeous, classic rhythm tap routine from 1953 built on moderate tempo syncopations and beautiful moves by Pete Nugent, member of the Copasetics and master tap stylist.
