Greetings!

Tina Gleisner and Dennis Turmel

The winter debris is gone, the mulch is down and we've started planting  annuals for their beautiful colors.

Now it's time to start planning for Memorial Day weekend, and like most years you're wondering if it makes sense to build a patio or add a deck to your backyard or maybe you just need a new coat of stain.

First consider how much time you spend at home, and how much time you spend outdoors? If you love to cook, you might enjoy creating an outdoor kitchen integrated into a patio. Maybe you'd enjoy a hammock or space for quiet time each day.

We've got lots of fun ideas to share with you, including the top outdoor living features identified in a survey of landscape architects. For any project small or large, we can help you make the best decision for your backyard, plan your project and of course, all your building, maintenance or home repairs.

Wishing you a glorious May and Memorial Day weekend.

Backyards can be mysterious so maybe you like to drive around neighborhoods to get ideas for landscaping? Maybe you go to open houses just to check out what other houses in your own neighborhood look like inside? You're probably also curious as to how people are using their backyards but how do you find out what they're doing?

Learn more from the American Society of Landscape Architects survey of the Top Outdoor Living Trends for 2011. The survey is chock full of information about recreation, landscaping, gardening, sustainable (think green) and structures found at home.
