Greetings!

Many people are dealing with a heat wave and too much humidity this summer.

We're learning the traditional weather patterns we knew as children aren't valid any more. We now need to prepare for more extreme weather, in addition to high energy costs due to higher global demand.

This month we review the many products eligible for the federal energy tax credit through year end 2010. You've got less than 6 months to select and install these products, to be eligible to claim your deduction, up to $1,500 off your 2010 taxes. All of these products will continue to save you money with lower utility bills, year after year.

We've including a few home features like ceiling fans that aren't eligible for the energy tax credit but they too can save you money.

You also want to have fun with your home so there are photos with ideas for adding a personal touch. Maybe your mailbox needs a touch of flowers or the kids would love a bird house to attract more feathered friends. We hope you enjoy the ideas.

Wishing you a long and relaxing summer.

Tips for Saving Energy
Invest Now to Save Future Cooling/Heating Costs

Summer may be an odd time to talk about updates that will reduce your heating bill ... which won't start arriving for several months. Still, if you're using any type of air conditioning, central or room, the changes will also reduce your cooling costs. That's because the techniques to insulate your home all focus on reducing the amount of air flow between spaces. Learn more ...

Hot Water Heaters

You see your kitchen appliances every day. There are many other fixtures in your home, ones you don't see frequently that are just as critical to your home running smoothly. Your hot water heater is one of the fixtures you never see although you use it every day taking a shower, running the dishwasher, etc.

Get tips on how to maintain your water heater so it lasts longer.

Ceiling Fans: Nostalgia, Energy Savings or Both?

In moderate climates, ceiling fans are an alternative to air conditioning. Where air conditioning is required, ceiling fans can reduce the number of months when you need to run the air conditioner and ceiling fans will let you save on air conditioning costs WHEN you increase the thermostat temperature by several degrees. Find out if a ceiling fan is right for you.
