Activity Code 16 Customs Bond Underwriting Authority & Pricing
January 14, 2010

Please view our enhanced underwriting schedule which includes your authority for Activity Code 16 (ISF) bonds. This new schedule becomes effective January 26, 2010; if you have any questions or concerns pertaining to this matter, please contact your Roanoke Trade bond representative for clarification.

For your immediate reference, your underwriting authority and pricing for ISF bonding is outlined below. These rules and dollar limits apply to your existing accounts that have a clean history of importing. But even within these limits, you must contact Roanoke Trade before issuing any Activity Code 16 bonds for:

  • Importers who have been sanctioned by CBP or are in bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings.
  • Entries for which you are not the customs broker.
  • Any principal for whom a complete street address cannot be shown on the bond.
  • Foreign importers except those in Canada and the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

You are authorized to issue Activity Code 16 bonds, for timely filings when it is a domestic principal as follows:

  • Singles: $10,000 - $25 bond premium
  • Continuous: $50,000 - $200 bond premium

Prior approval is required by your Roanoke Trade bond representative if any of the following apply:

  • If the filing is late.
  • If the principal has had 5 or more ISF STBs in the past year.
  • If the principal is a non-resident.
  • If the principal has an existing CBP 301 continuous bond on file.

Activity Code 16 STBs for late ISFs may be approved if proper collateral terms are met; contact us for details. There is no change in rates for CBP Form 301 single or continuous bonds - including unified STBs.

Activity Code 16 bonds will be able to be issued in FastBondTM effective January 26th. For a login, please contact us ASAP, and if you need an ISF continuous bond in the interim, please contact your Roanoke Trade representative.

In addition, please remember that we encourage you to obtain CBP Form 301 continuous bonds for your clients whenever possible, in order to cover importer security filings. This is the most efficient solution for you and your clients at minimal cost and controlled liability.

Roanoke Trade thanks you for your business and is working hard to make ISF bonding a smooth and successful process for the trade community!
