Jewish Population Study
November 14, 2008
Dear Community Leaders,

On behalf of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, we wanted to inform you that Federation has engaged the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network to conduct a systematic survey of the Jewish population in the five-county metropolitan area of Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery County in the Spring of 2009.
The purpose of this demographic and attitudinal study is to collect strategically important data for use in future planning by Jewish community institutions, including the federation and its partners: agencies, congregations, and membership organizations.

As you may know, there are a limited number of questions that can be asked in a 22-minute phone survey.  Moreover, there are a significant number of standard questions about age, residence and income that are asked in most surveys around the country in the same general format in order to allow comparisons to be made between Jewish communities. (Feel free to check out the  questionnaires from the 1984 and 1996/97 surveys for some examples of these questions - just click on the links.)

However, we want the survey to reflect current issues in our community.  Ergo, please feel free to send a list of general issues and/or specific questions to Brian Mono, Federation's Manager of Allocations, at [email protected] .  The deadline for submitting questions is Wednesday, November 26th.  Our committee will than sort through these submissions and do our best to make sure that the survey reflects the primary concerns of the Greater Philadelphia community.

Sincerely
