Back To School - Back To Work

I hope everyone had a great summer and found some time to relax and rejuvenate on a sandy beach. Now that summer is over it's back to school time.  This September is special because my grandson started kindergarten, and I am so excited for him. Everytime we passed a school, he would say, "are they learning in there?   I want to learn too."

I am a proud grandmother!!!!

Now back to work.  I am heading to Washington, DC to attend the National Black Justice Coalition's first, "Out on the Hill," Black LGBT Leadership Summit, in conjunction with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Legislative Conference. There will be Black LGBT leaders from around the country converging on the Capitol to participate in social action to educate our Congressional leaders and other federal agencies.

You know I'll be there representing Black lesbians.

Video project in progress - Documenting Our Stories
We have identified the participants for the upcoming video shoot to document the lives of Black lesbian families.  This is a collaboration between Zuna Institute, NIA Collective and Queer Women Of Color Media Arts Project.  For one month we will be following these families around in order to tell their stories in support of same-sex marriage.

We'll keep you posted!

Thanks to a grant from the Horizons Foundation, we are collaborating with The NIA Collective and Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project on a video project that will be used to raise support for same-sex marriage among people of color.

Thank you for all your support!

Sincerely,

Zuna Institute
