Summer rhythms...
Summer is a time for slowing down, going with ease, paying attention to the vibrant sensations of the physical world, and the pleasure of surrendering to the movements of the body and spirit in our practice.
On these warm days, as the temperature rises, we also have the opportunity to surrender to the transformational heat of tapas. Rather than fighting against the heat, we can literally let the worries and toxins run off of us as we are cleansed and renewed.
We hope this finds you at peace, smiling and exploring the extended moments of the season and as always, we are grateful for all of you and for the lovely community we're creating together. Keep your breath moving between your heart and your head and feel the joy on and off the mat!
Here's what's coming up at the Lotus in July/August.
We're excited that Marla Apt will be teaching the 3 sessions of Intro to Pranayama. Pranayama is the basis of our asana practice and Marla is a master. Not to be missed!
As always, every second Friday, Kirtan with Daniel and Friends this Friday, July 10th at 8:15.
Beloved master teacher Max Strom is returning to teach two workshops in August. This is your opportunity to study with him while he's in the Los Angeles area.
New and musically rocking: YogaSonic: Yoga flow with Michelle Goldstein and ambient music spun by Claire's talented husband, John Tague. Our launch was on Friday, June 26th and we had a wonderful turn out. Stay tuned for our next evening of flow and be part of the experience!
In gratitude and joy, Daniel & Claire

"Pranayama is to Yoga, what the heart is to the human body." - BKS Iyengar

Pranayama is the management of prana (energy) through control of the
breath. The practice of pranayama is said to be the bridge between our
individual selves and the universal soul. In addition to helping
cultivate concentration, meditation and a sense of union with the world
around us, Pranayama strengthens the nervous system and disciplines the
mind.
In this three-part course, you will learn the principles of
pranayama and how to approach the practice in a safe and progressive
manner.
**Minimum of six months of asana practice is required**
$60 for all three sessions or $25 per session.

Kirtan with Daniel & Friends Friday, July 10th at 8:15pm
|
Come join me and many wildly talented musical friends this Friday, July 10th @ 8:15 for a joyful evening of musical meditation and chanting.
Welcome Sarah back in town as she joins Sylvie and Emily on vocals, Jeff Harris on guitar, Abby Scovile on cello, Angela Devita on flute, and Matthew Hufschmidt on Drums.
No singing experience needed, only a willingness to open your heart to the joy.
The energy of our chanting keeps growing. Thank you for helping to make these events so joyous and powerful. For me, the experience of communal music and song just gets better and I'm so fortunate to be working with such creative musicians on the bhakti path.
Hope you'll come and help us warm up the room and spread the joy at the Lotus. Jai Ma!
