Sunday, September 30, at Grace | |
Eucharist, meeting, light lunch
We celebrate the Eucharist at 10:00.
After the Eucharist, we will move immediately into a parish meeting. This will be an opportunity for us to consider where we are as a parish and to imagine our work in the future. Please add your voice to the conversation.
The Adamsons have kindly offered some money toward sandwiches from Subway, and we'll put a basket out for other donations, so that after the meeting, we can enjoy a little lunch together in the gathering space.

Spaghetti Dinner | | About 50 people enjoyed it!
David Moyer did a great job of organizing friends and volunteers for the Spaghetti Dinner. About 50 people participated, the food was great, and the socializing was really wonderful.
Many thanks to the cooks, prep people, set-up helpers, servers, clean-up helpers, people who sent donations, and people who ate and enjoyed! |
Downtown Development | | Next community-wide meeting is October 8
The Allentown Community Benefits Coalition (ACBC) is convening the community for a series of conversations about hoped-for benefits from the coming downtown development. The next meeting is Monday, October 8, at the HIS Center (317 N. 4th St., across from Sacred Heart Catholic Church), at 7:00 pm. All are welcome. Participating in these conversations is a way to advocate for changes that may improve the lives of our neighbors and the health of our neighborhood. The group is discussing possible benefits the community would like to see in the areas of affordable housing, employment, youth programming, education, and business development.
WFMZ covered the last meeting, and you can watch a video clip here.

Flu Shots at Church | | Get your shot on October 14
We are fortunate that through David Moyer's connection with the Allentown Health Bureau, he has obtained flu vaccine so he can administer it to people in the community. He has done this service at Grace Church for years. This year, nursing student and parishioner Kelly Cannon will assist him.
David will set up his needles and paperwork downstairs on Sunday, October 14, after church. He will also offer the vaccine to our neighbors in the food pantry when they are here in mid- or late October. |
Vestry | |
Vestry meetings are open to all
The vestry is the governing board of the parish, and regular vestry meetings are open to all parishioners. At the last vestry meeting, there was some conversation about increasing and improving communication between the vestry and the parish. One result is that a parish meeting is scheduled for this Sunday, September 30, after the celebration of the Eucharist.
The list of vestry members is published in the back of the bulletin each week. If you have a question or concern, please feel free to share it with any vestry member.
The next regularly scheduled meeting is Thursday, October 18, in the evening.
