| Webinar Series Launched | |
In August 2011, ISOP formed an Education Committee as a sub-committee to the board of directors.
These individuals collectively bring over 54 years of experience from preservation, and are tasked with launching a series of webinars.
The first of which occurred on October 19, 2011, presented by Martin J. Mangino, Ph.D. on Principles of Organ Preservation.
173 people joined the call from 48 differnet OPOs/Agencies!
Thank you!

Dear ISOP,
Congratulations to the entire team of the International Society for Organ Preservation on your October Webinar!
ISOP is propelling to the top in becoming the "GO TO" organization for preservation issues.
You've set the bar high but I know that continued success is inevitable for ISOP.
The officers, Board, and several members have been working for months (even years) on professional education projects; it's great to see all that work coming to fruition!
Again, hearty congratulations!
Sincerely,
Jim Locke, CTP, Past President, ISOP

We hope that this will be a useful tool and entice you to join the ISOP and share your experiences and talents as a member. |
| Ronald Skolek Receives ISOP Service Award | |
Four Years of Service from 2004 to 2011
Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network's Alison Smith, Vice President of Operations (left) and Ronald Skolek, RN, BSN, CPTC, CTP, Supervisor of Kidney Perfusion & Technical Services (right).
The membership, officers and board members of the International Society of Organ Preservation, would like to express our appreciation and gratitude for Ron's years of outstanding service.
Ron set an example of leadership that we all will strive to follow and have had a positive influence onpositive influence in the field of organ preservation and transplantation as well as on the direction of ISOP.
So much so, that in 2009 the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) announced that they had constructed a new exam, whereby select industry professionals worked with ABTC to assist with writing the new Certified Transplant Preservationist (CTP) exam...and Ron served on the team that created the industry's only exam that credentials preservationists.
We wish Ron all the best in his future endeavors. |

Congratulations on passing the ABTC Certified Transplant Preservationists (CTP) exam!
Adam Fox of Tennessee Donor Services
Chad Eggeman of Lifeline of Ohio
Chris Mattson of Lifeline of Ohio
David Grant of Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency
Lindsey Kelly of Tennessee Donor Services
The use of the certification credentials attests to the transplant community and the public that the individual has met stringent standards of competency and possesses the knowledge and skills needed to provide quality care for transplant donors and recipients. Passing the exam allows the individual to attach the CTP designation to one's name.

Have you recently passed the CTP exam? Let us know! You should be proud....we'd love to announce you in our next newsletter! Email Amber at: amber@organpreservation.org

| Moment of Honor | Poster was featured at NATCO's Annual Meeting in August 2011
by Daniel Martinelli This study evaluated the effects of a structured Moment of Honor held at the beginning of an organ donor case on the perceptions and attitudes of operating room (OR) staff involved in the recovery process. The Moment of Honor was created to honor organ donors and their families, to highlight how care of the organ donor translates into care of the recipient, and to remind the recovery team of their role in maximizing the passing of the heroic gift of life from one human being to another. The objective of the study was to validate that a Moment of Honor could positively impact the opinions of OR staff concerning organ donation. |
