The Mars Hill Proclaimer |
|
 |
 |
 |
Dear Friends in Christ,
The Mar's Hill Proclaimer is going electronic and thus entering the 21st Century! Our friends and members who do not have email will receive a copy of these email newsletters via U.S. mail. Not only will the electronic Proclaimer help us to be better stewards of the earth by conserving paper and other resources, it will also reduce costs. That allows us to use our financial resources for other missions and ministries inside and outside of St. Paul's.
One thing that has not changed is our commitment to mission and ministry in the DeKalb community through the Episcopal Church Women Lobster Boil Fundraiser! Everyone said I had to see the Lobster Boil happen to believe it, and see it I did this past Saturday! What impressed me the most is the way everyone worked together toward one purpose, which was selling lobsters. But not just selling lobsters! Everyone was working together to serve Christ in our neighbor. If we can do a Lobster Boil for Jesus, then we can do anything to which the Holy Spirit may be calling us!
On Wednesday, June 29th at 6PM we will have an event that is old and new: Bishop Lee will visit St. Paul's, nothing new about that. The occasion for his visit is new: the celebration of the Feasts of St. Peter and Paul, and our partners in this celebration will be St. Peter's, Sycamore. This will be a new tradition for St. Paul's and St. Peter's of coming together around the common mission of sharing the Good News of God in Christ, just like Peter and Paul did all those years ago. And of course, we will share a meal together afterward! Next year, we will be at St. Peter's. But this year, St. Peter's will be our guests, so mark your calendars and plan to turn out for this joyful celebration of our shared mission and ministry.
The Peace of Christ be With You,
Rev. Stacy+ |

Thursday, June 2nd Feast of the Ascension Holy Eucharist at 6:00 PM |
 |
|
Take a break in your busy week and give thanks to God
with Communion and Fellowship
Luke tells us that forty days after the resurrection, in the
presence of His disciples, Jesus ascended into heaven to be seated at the right hand of the Father (Luke 24:44-53, Acts 1:1-11). We affirm the ascension in the Nicene Creed and at the Eucharist.
This year we will also celebrate with prayer, song, and communion the Ascension of our Lord Jesus on Thursday, June 2, the 40th day after Easter Sunday. A sign-up sheet for the potluck supper is available in the parish hall. Child care will be available. |

Neighborhood Garden at St. Paul's Breaking Ground Soon! |
 | |
"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth"
St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians (3:6)
You may have noticed some changes going on in the yard to the east of the parish hall near the playground. Rhys Prall has been making preparations to break ground for St. Paul's neighborhood garden. The garden team met in early April to dream about the possibilities, but we are still in the process of discovering the shape and form this garden ministry will take. Our hope is it will be a place for our members and neighbors to grow and enjoy fresh vegetables throughout the summer.
Perhaps you have friends who would enjoy being invited to garden. Bring them along! We will be accepting donations of vegetable plants and seeds, as well as donations towards a fence to keep out our bunny neighbors. (They have plenty to eat in the rest of the St. Paul's yard!) Updates to follow when we are ready to plant. Contact Rev. Stacy if you would like to donate your time, talent, or treasure to this new ministry.
