SOZO Basic Training ~ Oct 2011
Greetings!

Hello! How are you today? How is your heart? I'm am so happy today! I love this time of the year, everything is golden green and it is warm. The high country in August is a special time...as summer begins the count down to retire into fall.

Well, there has been a lot going on in and around the church family and as I was praying this week, the Lord reminded me of one of His names/characteristics that is foundational for us.

Jehovah Nissi
: The Lord is my Banner.

A banner is a standard that was held up so the battling army knew where the king or general or command post was located. It was a rallying point in case the troops lost their way or were turned around; they could find the banner and know which way to proceed or where to gather in a retreat.

The Lord showed me an image of a large banner on a thick rod. I took it and slammed the end of the rod into the ground, driving it deep. Then a huge tempest broke lose and as the wind blew and rains came, I was able to hold onto that rod and find my footing and stand strong, in a place of peace - unmoved by the storm.

This isn't just for me, friend, this is for all of us. A reminder that we have breakthroughs in our walk and understanding of who God is and in those places we can drive a rod into the ground, for HIS banner to be displayed and declare: This is a command post for the Heavenly Host! This is a secure location and those who gather here will find strength and courage.

We talk about needing God in times of trouble, but that rod and banner are there always. They are there to remind us of who we are, who God is and whose side we are on. It doesn't always have to be a full on battle for us to need a bearing check. It is those times when the slight, subtle breeze can distract and end up taking us off course...that we need it the most.

So, take some time this week. Look around you, go back to your journals. Find the place where the banner is flying and regroup, gather and commune with the Lord. Once you have found your peace and have solid footing once again, then move forward, to find the next location for a rod and banner - to the next breakthrough in your understanding of God as well as yourself....

Shine on my special friend,

~Sam~
