One Family Annual Camping Trip
Greetings!

Hello friend! Well, I'm back from Kenya and getting back into the routine of life here at home. It was great celebrating with my family this week, our country's birthday and the freedoms we are blessed with here. I've been thinking a lot lately about relationships and I'd like to share with you some of my thoughts...

We all have those friends around us who seem to be overly critical or judgmental about a lot of things, even you as their friend aren't immune to the process. I've come to the conclusion that if I'm in a place of peace and rest with the Lord and the knowledge of who I am in Him, then I can better stand in the face of criticisms from others. I've never been one to really care about what people think of me, but there are times when people who are close feel it's OK to comment or speculate and these are the times when it's hard to stand firm and not take their opinions to heart. Now, sometimes we have friends who can speak into our lives for growth or even correction - (that's the accountability piece), but what I'm talking about it is that overwhelming feeling that no matter what you do or say, you'll never measure up to these people's expectations.

Well, guess what?! You don't have to measure up to anyone! God created you in a unique and special way for a unique and special purpose ... you aren't going to be like anyone else, because you weren't created to be anyone else! I've learned a lot about the fear of man in recent years and how my acceptance of myself needs to stem from who I believe I am in Christ-who He says I am, not who others say they think I am.

Take some time this week and name off those around you that you feel like you need to please. Be honest! Don't puff up and say - I don't ever feel that way ... now, write their name(s) down on a piece of paper and start declaring and praying for them. Start thanking the Lord for their lives and how much they mean to you. Thank Him for helping you see who you are through His eyes, rather than through this person's perspectives. Thank Him for the opportunity to grow in grace and love through your relationship with them. Now ask Him about and write down what you sense He is wanting to show you or reveal to you through this relationship.

Hopefully (my prayer for you is), you will see growth and strength in relationships you have struggled in before and that you will begin to see yourself, and not just others, through His eyes...the wonderful person He created you to be.

Shine on my friend.

Sincerely,

Samantha Meister

PS If you are really struggling with this and aren't sure what the Lord says about you, give me a call and we can sit down and look through the scriptures at some of His promises to us and His declarations of who we were created to be...and begin the journey of discovering your true identity.

One Family Annual Camping Trip

August 5-7, 2011

Yes, it's that time of the year again! Time to go camping! MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!

REMINDER! WE WILL BE HAVING CHURCH AT THE CAMPSITE, SO THE THEATER WILL BE CLOSED THAT MORNING!

We are looking at a couple of different locations and will have those details and maps out to everyone in the next couple of weeks. We are also looking for some help with planning activities for our time together, especially in the evenings.

We will have two evenings together (kids & adults) and are thinking that having some worship and sharing time would be good... This should be for anyone elementary school age and up ...  (Moms & Dads of the younger kids, we'll leave the activities for the kiddos in your hands since schedules differ for the littler ones.)
If you have any ideas, thoughts, brainstorms ... please pass them along!!

During the daytime, everyone is pretty much free to do whatever ... last year we had people gather for hikes, fishing, 4X4ing, playing at the lake, games and just some great time together with the extended family ...

Sunday morning we will be having church together at the camp site. We will be taking the offering that morning and since it's first Sunday, we'll have communion together ...

One Last Thing ... you'll need to bring your own gear, tent/camper, clothing, etc., food, drinks/water. If anyone would like to come, but you don't have the gear, let us know and we'll see if we can put you in touch with others who can help...

Contact Sam Meister to help with details or with activity ideas... 970-389-3932
