PASTORS MEMO

There was a classic Phil Collins song that said, "I can feel it coming in the air tonight...hold on."  That is exactly how I feel about  WCC right now!

Our average attendance increased several hundred and we had the most visitors in January that we have had in several years!  We just had our GO Sunday encouraging people to sign up for ministries in our church and had over 200 people sign up. WOW!  We had another 41 people come to Membership Sunday to join the church!  And we just baptized around 15 people last Sunday!  We are looking to launch 10 new home groups in the next several weeks.

Our Community ministries are growing as well.  The "In Need of Repair Ministry" is putting a new roof and other repairs on a house that has a recovery ministry in the inner city.  Our 20's group is in the process of purchasing a bus and making it into a mobile clothes closet called "The Grateful Thread Tour Bus."  We have started working with another church in the inner city to help tutor children from the lowest income and academic area in OKC with an organization called "Whiz Kids"

Invite your friends...get connected...let's GO!!!

See you Sunday!

Biblical Community is the answer!!!  When we as a church begin to walk in step with each other and really "Do Life  Together" I believe then we are on our way!  Take a minute to look at Acts 2:42-47;

42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46And day by day,  attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

If you will read the last part of 47 the Scripture says "the Lord added to their number day by day!!!  That is awesome!  But understand it all started with "meeting together" The biggest problem with living in Biblical community is.....It is stinkin hard!!!  It is very hard for most people to really let someone "into" our lives.  I know personally because I struggle with it everyday.  But I am convinced that being in a Home Group is by far the best chance for you to engage in real Biblical community.  Make it a point to be here for "Group Connect" on Feb 12th.  Group Connect is an event where you get the opportunity to join a home group.  Come and meet people and group leaders.  Sign up today at the Events table.

WCC STUDENT MINISTRY

The Student Ministry had a great time at our Suspension Retreat last month.  We had 55 people attend and everyone had an experience that won't soon wear off!  We also had a great time each week at the Mix learning about God's word by watching movie clips in our "In the Spotlight" series.  Be sure to ask your child about it!

In February we will start a series at the Mix called "Ruth."  We will be walking through the book verse by verse and looking at one of the greatest romantic love stories in the Bible - Boaz and Ruth.  The Mix will continue to meet every Wednesday from 7:00-9:00.  The youth will also be having a SUPER BOWL PARTY on February 5th starting at 5:00.  All are welcome to watch the big game and eat lots of snacks!  Everything is provided, so all you need to do is show up!

 WCC KIDS

 Club 56 lock in

5th and 6th graders have been busy!  In December we went and looked at the lights in Yukon, had dinner and played dirty Santa and went snow tubing in Bricktown... plus the girls had a girls night out.  In January, we had our annual lock-in with over 60 5th & 6th graders attending for food, games, laser tag and a jeopardy tournament.  Lots of fun and prizes.

If you have a 5th or 6th grader, an important part of growing in Christ is being in fellowship with the body of Christ.  That's one of the main reasons we offer so many fellowship opportunities, we want kids to want to be with other believers who can build them up and grow with them as they prepare to enter the teenage years and junior high.

We are also beginning a 90 day Bible reading challenge on Sunday January 29th.  It's our first annual Read-A-Thon.  There will be prizes and rewards offered for students who reach different reading levels.  Plus for every 100 chapters collectively read by the Club 56 students, I will run one mile.  I'm hoping the kids will want to work me to death and I'll wind up running a really long way!  Well... maybe crawl if it's too long.  More details will be available on the website and coming home with your students.  They will receive a 90 day reading plan that incorporates the Old & New Testament.  It would be a great way to get the entire family reading and will only take minutes each day.
